Merry Christ….Happy Holid….WHAT?
You know I am so sick of this whole politically correct BS we have nowadays. It’s completely ridiculous and moronic. I just read an article about a Missouri State College professor (http://www.ky3.com/news/local/11913886.html) having to take down a Christmas tree because of one, yes ONE, complaint from a Jewish professor. This Jewish professor stated the tree was insensitive to other religions. State law states that Christmas trees are a secular symbol unless they contain religious symbols which this tree did not. Come on people.
What happened to the good days when this stuff wasn’t an issue. Did you know that WalMart (at least the one here in town where I live in Iowa) is not allowing their employees to say Merry Christmas? They must say Happy Holidays now. God forbid we say Christmas. I mean it’s not like Christmas has anything to do with Christ right? HAH! What a joke. This society today makes me sick to my stomach and makes me wonder what went wrong. When did it become wrong to call a midget a midget? Sorry they aren’t height challeneged or vertically challenged. They are a freaking midget. A dwarf. I just have a hard time referring to them as “little people” when discussing them. To me it’s almost more derogatory to call them “little people” than midget. To me little people means they are less of a person than me because they are “little” right?
And now some state (can’t remember which one at the moment) is wanting a statewide ban on spanking. Yep. You heard it right. Ban spanking. I’m sorry but I was spanked as a kid and I’m glad I was. I wasn’t beaten. I was spanked. Paddle, wooden spoon, spatula, flip flop, belt. Whatever was used. I was spanked on my butt. There is a big difference between spanking a child and beating a child. A BIG difference. But today’s society doesn’t seem to see the difference. Spank your kid go to jail. Kid mentions his dad spanked him. BAM! You’re getting investigated for child abuse. It’s sad. Really it is.
Another thing that bothers me is calling blacks African Americans. Why? Do people call me an American American? No. Am I called a English American (since I know I’ve got English ancestors)? No. I’m called white. Same thing with other races. They are Chinese, Japanese, etc. Not Chinese Americans or Japanese Americans. And I’m sorry but it’s Mexicans not Mexican American. If they are illegal then they are DEFINITELY not American nor do they deserve that title. I’ve gotten out of calling Asian people Orientals but I never called them Orientals much to begin with.
Sorry to go off on a rant but it’s just ridiculous. This Christmas tree article got me worked up. I’ll leave you with one last thing.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
